Sheriff's Office Gearing Up for Cops for Kids

PAULDING COUNTY, GA -- The Paulding County Sheriff's Office is gearing up for the 13th annual Cops for Kids program.

Every year, a select store opens early on a Saturday during the holidays to allow officers to take local children shopping. Through the generous donations made by the community, the program allows less fortunate children to have a true Christmas.

Cops for Kids has been very successful for the past eight years. In 1998, the goal was to take 20 children shopping. In 2009, 260 children went shopping. This year's goal is 225 children.

Goals have been met or exceeded virtually every year, thanks to contributors from Paulding County.

It costs $150 to sponsor one child. This donation is not only tax deductible, but it helps give Christmas to a needy child -- and every penny that is donated remains in Paulding County.
