The state parks located on the local Corps of Engineers lakes are open to visitors. They include Don Carter State Park on Lake Lanier in Gainesville; Red Top Mountain State Park on Allatoona Lake in Cartersville;and Tugaloo State Park on Lake Hartwell in Lavonia.
"We've already had a number of campers check into our state parks because they had to leave Corps of Engineers campgrounds which had closed," State Parks Assistant Director Wally Woods said in a statement. "We have plenty of cabins, yurts and campsites available this week."
