Store clerk threatened with a bomb

PAULDING COUNTY, Ga -- A suspect who robbed a store and told the clerk he had a bomb may be connected to a second robbery. The robberies happened a day apart in Paulding County. In one of the robberies he said he had a gun and a bomb.

"At this point we don't have anything that would indicate whether he did have a bomb or a gun but as you can imagine the clerk took it serious and gave the suspect the money," said Corporal Ashley Henson of the Paulding County Sheriff Office.

On Friday, October 25, 2014, the suspect walked into the CVS Pharmacy on Cedarcrest Road at about 7:00AM. The suspect forced a clerk into the manager's office where he ordered the manager to open a safe and give him the money, according to Cpl. Henson.

The suspect pointed a black, semi-automatic pistol at the clerk and the manager.

Threat made against East Paulding High School

Threat made against East Paulding High School

DALLAS, Ga. -- The Paulding County Sheriff's Office is investigating a threat made against East Paulding High School.

Sheriff's Cpl. Ashley Henson said an anonymous message written on a bathroom wall indicated there will be a shooting at the school on Friday.

Henson said the message was not substantiated, but school officials and the sheriff's office take all threats seriously.

Classes will take place as scheduled Friday at the high school, but the school district ordered extra law enforcement officers to be on campus.

Henson said the sheriff's office encourages parents and students to have open lines of communication with faculty, staff and law enforcement any time a threat is made. Parents should also discuss the serious consequences of making shooting threats with their children, Henson said.

(WXIA) -- A major project on a heavily traveled interchange is bound to cause some headaches for Atlanta-area drivers this weekend.

It's just one of several scheduled construction sessions throughout the area. All work is weather permitting.

Crews will be hard at work on the Kennedy Interchange in Cobb County much of the weekend. The Kennedy Interchange is where Interstate 75 meets Interstate 285 in the Cumberland area.

The Georgia Department of Transportation said sign installation will require multiple lane closures on the Outer Loop of I-285 just before the exit ramp to Cobb Parkway and I-75 north. Two right lanes will close at 9 a.m. Saturday; that will expand to three lanes between 11 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday. Outer Loop traffic will also be paced in the area beginning at around 2 a.m. Sunday.

Other weekend road projects include:
