HELP DESK | How you can help Poole Elementary School | News
(WXIA) -- Classes resumed Monday at Poole Elementary School in Paulding County, just three days after the building suffered substantial tornado damage.
The Dallas school bore the brunt of a tornado that touched down there Friday night. The school's roof was peeled away and portable storage units were tossed about like toys.
However, school officials say the school will resume normal operating hours Monday, although some bus pick-ups may be delayed because of possible road closures. Classes held in rooms and trailers affected by the weather will be moved to other parts of the building.
Here's how you can help:
- Go to any of the 14 School Box stores and donate a PREFERRED GIFT CARD from any big box store or School Box.
- Drop off or purchase and donate school supplies at the School Box.
Starting Monday, viewers will be able to help individual teachers who will have a wish list posted on The School Box website. Once on the site, follow the School Box links to the individual teacher "wish list" pages.
While School Box is replacing supplies, Home Depot will be replacing valuable landscaping, much of it done by the students themselves. They will also replace valuable playground equipment, seriously damaged by high winds or twisted beyond repair.
Wednesday afternoon, 11Alive will host Poole Elementary parents, teachers, students and members of the Dallas community to salute the strong community spirit that the school represents.
