Celebrate the 2nd Annual Paulding Musical Christmas

DALLAS, GA -- Last year, the first-ever Paulding Musical Christmas was a smashing success, and this year's promises to be even bigger and better!

This colorful community event will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18 at the Historic Dallas Theater (208 Main Street, Dallas, 30132).

Popular local talent will come together to present a landmark evening of seasonal music and family fun. Performers include:

* The Hope Boys Trio

POWDER SPRINGS, GA -- For the very first time, Ballet North Performance Company will grace the stage with a production of The Nutcracker on Saturday, Dec. 18 and Sunday, Dec. 19 at the J. Alton Keith Theater at McEachern High School (2400 New Macland Road, Powder Springs, 30127).

Adults and children of all ages will enjoy this unique premiere of young performing artists and dancers from Paulding County, Douglasville, West Cobb and Metro Atlanta.

The Nutcracker, choreographed by Ballet North Performance Company director Christine Auchincloss Fehr, will go beyond the traditional satin pointe shoes and shimmery tutus.

Marietta Ice Rink Hosts National Meat Cutting Challenge

MARIETTA, GA -- The Marietta Ice Center (4880 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta, 30068) is usually reserved for figure skaters and hockey players, but it is about to play host to a different type of event -- Round Two of the National Meat Cutting Challenge.

The large venue and frigid conditions make it the perfect place to test the skills of Texas Roadhouse master meat cutters from six states, including Georgia. The competition will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 16 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

The meat cutters will showcase their skills during a timed "cut-off," during which each individual receives 50 pounds of beef consisting of two top-butts, two tenderloins and one rib loin.

Register for the Paulding County Christmas Parade

DALLAS, GA -- The deadline to register for the 18th annual Invitational Christmas Parade is fast approaching.

Applications must be received no later than noon on Wednesday, Nov. 10.

The price to enter the parade is $75 for an individual or organization, and $100 for a business or corporation. This price covers two vehicles; each additional vehicle is $15.

The 2010 parade will take place on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 2:00 p.m. The theme is "Bringing Joy to Children at Christmas."

Grand Re-Opening of Paulding County Animal Shelter

DALLAS, GA -- The Paulding County Animal Shelter (775 Industrial Boulevard North, Dallas, 30132) is having a grand re-opening celebration the weekend of Nov. 19-21.

For the entire weekend, adoption fees will be reduced to $40.

In celebration of the re-opening, there will be a special event on Saturday, Nov. 20 at Braly Sports Complex behind the shelter from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Santa and his live reindeer will be on hand to pose for pictures. There will also be a microchip clinic, vets and groomers, a bake sale and a rabies clinic.

Several items will be raffled off during the event to raise money for the shelter's spay/neuter program. Any donated items will be greatly appreciated.

Paulding County Celebrates Halloween

DALLAS, GA -- The spooky Halloween fun begins a week early in Dallas, when the county board of commissioners will open to gates to the Trick or Treat Village.

This annual event for Paulding County children will take place on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Earl Duncan Park at Paulding Meadows (724 Paulding Meadows Drive, Dallas, 30132).

Children up to age 12 may participate in the costume parade, which begins at the park's stage at 5:30 p.m. There will also be hay rides, games and trick-or-treating.

Admission is free; food and drink will be sold at the event.

Paulding Public Safety Appreciation Day 2010

DALLAS, GA -- Paulding Public Safey Appreciation, Inc. will be hosting the 2nd annual Paulding Public Safety Appreciation Day and Family Festival on Saturday, Oct. 9 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport (570 Airport Parkway, Dallas, 30157). Everyone is invited for a day of fun and excitement for the entire family.

PPSA, Inc. works to provide financial assistance to public safety personnel living in Paulding County who have been injured, disabled or killed while performing the duties outlined in their job description to include training and certification requirements.
