Wendy’s is giving us a good reason to buy a Frosty this weekend!  It’s the fifth annual Father's Day Frosty Weekend – when participating Wendy’s restaurants will donate 50 cents for every Frosty product sold June 18th – 19th to support Wendy’s Wonderful Kids, a signature program of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. The efforts are aiming to raise 1.7 million dollars!

LOCAL PROFILE: Georgia's Country Music Scene

ATLANTA – According to the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, “country music is a perennial Southern favorite in Atlanta and it won’t disappoint”. The music, which has its roots in the south, is known as a blend of, both, traditional and popular music. The country music genre gained widespread popularity around the mid-1900’s as music known as “hillbilly” or old-time music began to decline. Hillbilly music was a genre of music native to the people of the Ozarks. The music was usually played on acoustic instrument like a guitar or a banjo.

Over the years, old-time music changed however most of the lyrical content and instrumentation stayed the same. As it evolved, the arrangement of instruments grew to include the electronic keyboard, drums, the bass, fiddle and the harmonica.

MARIETTA, Ga. -- There are tons of fun events going on this weekend, in your area. We’ve listed a few of them for you to check out with your family and friends.

The Marietta Gone with the Wind museum is hosting their 75th Anniversary on Saturday morning. The museum has planned a huge celebration and two actors and an actress will be a part of the festivities. The actors will be signing autographs from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.  And a swap meet will be held from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. The event costs $35; however, the celebrities may charge a fee for their signatures. The museum is located at 18 Whitlock Avenue in Marietta.

- Previously, we listed the 75th Anniversary Gone with the Wind event at the Marietta Gone with the Wind Museum as free; however, admission to the event was $35 per person. We apologize for whatever confustion this may have caused.

MARIETTA-- There are tons of fun events going on this weekend, in your area. We’ve listed a few of them for you to check out with your family and friends.

Come out and enjoy a movie on the Marietta Square. At the Earl Smith Strand Theatre in Marietta, the 2002 film “Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood” will be screened at 8 p.m. on Friday, June 3.

The Aurora Theatre is hosting a play called, “Over the River and Through the Woods” about Hoboken, New Jersey, an Italian-American neighborhood with a tradition of eating dinner at the Gianelli’s house. It continues through June 5.  

Rock station 97.1 is hosting The River Wing ‘N Rock Fest at Woodstock City Park on Saturday, June 4. The festival features tons of wings, beer and tribute bands with the comfort of being outside.

The Partners in Education Breakfast will be at 8 a.m. Wednesday, June 8 at Hiram High School (702 Ballentine Drive).

Summit to make case for transit to northern suburbs

ATLANTA -- Three locals chambers of commerce have planned a summit to make a business case for transit into the suburbs.

The Metro Atlanta Northern Crescent Transit Summit will be from 7 a.m. to noon Wednesday, June 8 at the Cobb Galleria Centre (2 Galleria Parkway, Atlanta, 30339).

The event, presented by Jacobs and Siemens, features national elected and technical experts from North Carolina and New Mexico, as well as representatives from the Chambers of Commerce of Cobb, Gwinnett and North Fulton.

Attendees will learn about potential game-changing, high-capacity transit lines that will significantly reduce traffic congestion while strengthening economic development assets in the northern suburbs.

Chattahoochee Tech graduation is June 16

ATLANTA -- Chattahoochee Technical College is gearing up for its spring graduation ceremony.

Approximately 1,200 students will graduate at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 16 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.

This year's featured speaker will be Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens.
