Shelton Elementary students 'flip' for books

Shelton Elementary students 'flip' for books

DALLAS, Ga. -- Students at Shelton Elementary School in Dallas are "flipping" for their book fair.

"This year, the [book fair] theme was a carnival," said school media specialist Cathy Mattocks. "And I thought, that is the perfect time to really go all out and show kids how much fun reading can be."

To get the children excited about buying and reading their own books, school officials organized a special dinner where chefs flipped pancakes from the griddle and on students' plates.

"Our goal is to put books in their hands and also get them to read and realize what great fun it can be," Mattocks said.
