Craigslist ads may have targeted women for violence

HIRAM, Ga. -- Paulding County Sheriff's officials are warning residents to be careful when responding to posts for free or inexpensive dogs on Craigslist.

Police have arrested one underage suspect for posting fake pet ads on the classifieds website. Although no one was harmed while responding to the postings, investigators have reason to believe that women were being targeted for "random acts of attempted violence for no apparent reason" through Craigslist, according to Paulding County Sheriff's spokesperson Ashley Henson.

The ads listed an address on Beranda Circle in the Hagen Farm subdivision in Hiram, Henson said.

The sheriff's office is now searching for victims who may have responded to the ads.

Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 770-443-3016.
