Sex offender arrested for exposing himself

HIRAM, Ga. -- Paulding County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a convicted sex offender for exposing himself to at least three victims.

Officials said Anthony Sims has a history of sexual offenses. Since Sept. 16, they received three reports of the 42-year-old Hiram resident exposing his genitals in the area of South Davis Mill Road and Hiram Sudie Road.

Because Sims is a registered sex offender, he is required to wear an ankle monitor. Detectives used the monitor's GPS tracking capability to discover that the suspect was at or near the scene during all three incidents.

"Paulding County currently has four registered sexual predators that are monitored by probation or parole using ankle monitors," Paulding County Sheriff Gary Gulledge said. "We are fortunate that technology such as GPS exists, and we will continue to use it in order to keep our communities safe."

Sims is being held without bond in the Paulding County Detention Center. He has been charged with public indecency, being a Peeping Tom, simple assault and criminal attempt to commit burglary.
