Former sheriff's deputy arrested for child molestation

CANTON, Ga. -- A former Paulding County Sheriff's deputy was arrested at his home in Canton on child molestation charges.

Carl Michael Janflone, 53, was taken into custody on Sept. 30, one day after the victim, an acquaintance, filed a report with Canton Police.

Janflone worked for the Paulding County Sheriff's Office for four years. Paulding officers are aware of the investigation and are cooperating with Canton detectives.

"Carl Janflone's employment status with the Paulding County Sheriff's Office changed to 'suspended with pay' immediately following his arrest Friday evening, Sept. 30, 2011, and he was terminated Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011," Paulding County Sheriff's spokesman Brandon Gurley said in a statement.

Janflone was booked in the Cherokee County Jail. He was charged with child molestation and enticing a child.
