HIRAM, Ga. -- Georgia is among the top five states in the nation for film and television productions. More than 335 productions were shot in the state in 2010, bringing in more than $759.3 million.

Now, Paulding County is ready to capitalize on its piece of this growing pie.

The Paulding County Industrial Building Authority (IBA) and Paulding County Board of Commissioners will break ground on a new full-service film and television production facility in Hiram at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Dubbed Atlanta Film Studios Paulding County, this venture will be the first production facility in decades to be developed outside of Atlanta city limits. It is also situated within the local union's Thirty Mile Zone, which makes it a convenient choice for any type of filmed entertainment production taking place within greater Atlanta.

The nearly 80,000 square foot campus will consist of two 20,000 square foot soundstages, 27,000 square feet of storage and construction space, and another 11,000 square feet of production offices, dressing rooms and wardrobe space.

Atlanta Film Studios Paulding County is slated to open its doors in late fall or early winter of this year. It will be located at 110 Thompson Road in Hiram.
