St. Vincent de Paul Builds Thrift Store and Family Center

DALLAS, GA -- In just 39 days, with more than 1,800 hours of volunteer work, a new St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store and Family Support Center rose from the remains of a closed furniture store in Dallas.

Now open at 651 West Memorial Drive, Dallas, 30132, the thrift store offers bargains on gently used clothing, shoes, books, furniture and housewares, providing the community with more cost-effective shopping options. The Family Support Center currently offers a food pantry and will expand services in the future.

The grand opening of the thrift store and support center will take place on Saturday, Oct. 2 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

"Having the Family Support Center and the thrift store under the same roof allows the Dallas community to experience all of the services St. Vincent de Paul provides," said Kevin Barbee, SVdP's director of store operations. "Since proceeds from the thrift store go directly back into the local community, St. Vincent de Paul will have a significant impact on the local economy."

The thrift store will be open Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Donations can be dropped off at those times as well. Volunteers from the community and the local SVdP Conference will staff the store.
