PAULDING COUNTY, GA -- On Sept. 27, Tommy Lee Strozier, 53, was convicted in a Paulding County courtroom for rape, sexual battery, aggravated sodomy, two counts of aggravated child molestation and incest involving his biological daughter.

Strozier was sentenced on Sept. 28 to life plus 20 years in prison for his conviction on all of these charges.

In March 2009, a family member of Strozier made contact with Det. Lynn Deaver of the Paulding County Sheriff's Office Crimes Against Children (CAC) unit and advised her of allegations made by Strozier's daughter. The victim was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center and examined.

The case was investigated by the CAC unit. It was determined that the abuse began when the victim was five years old and had been going on for nine years.

"Being assigned to this unit can become emotionally draining because of the types of cases that we are constantly facing," said Lt. Starry Kilgore, commander of Paulding County's CAC unit. "All of our investigators have submitted requests to become a part of this unit, and they have passed a rigorous selections process. I am very proud of the men and women that have dedicated themselves to the children of Paulding County. They have made a commitment to help protect those whom cannot yet protect themselves."
