Witnesses describe danger as Paulding deputies closed in on gunman

PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. -- Neighbors around Winn Street and Friendship Church Road in Paulding County are breathing a little more easily after the community was previously swarmed with law enforcement officers looking for a gunman, Friday.

Armed robbery suspect in custody in Paulding County

PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. --  An armed robbery suspect has been taken into custody in Paulding County.

According to Sgt. Ashley Henson of the Paulding County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a call of an armed robbery around 4 p.m. The man was trying to steal farm equipment. When deputies arrived at the scene the suspect allegedly pointed a rifle into the air. During the incident, the weapon was fired into the air several times, Henson said. 

A short time later, the suspect was seen making his way down Bobby Austin Road, where it was discovered he dropped the weapon. 

The suspect was later taken into custody at an abandoned home. 

South Paulding County High School is scheduled to hold its homecoming game on Friday. According to Dr. Otott of Paulding County School District, the game is still scheduled to take place. Winn Road is a road that must be taken to get to the game. 


Mother injured, child killed in Dallas accidental shooting

DALLAS, Ga. --  An 8-year-old girl has been killed in what Paulding County deputies believe was an accidental shooting.

11Alive is told that the mother was brushing the girl's hair when a 9mm, semi-automatic handgun, fell to the floor and discharged hitting both of them.

Family of teen killed in crash thanks community

ATLANTA -- The family of one of the teens killed in a crash by a Georgia State Patrol trooper is thanking the entire metro Atlanta community for supporting them.

South Paulding High School says goodbye to teens killed in crash

DALLAS, Ga. -- The South Paulding High School community said good-bye to two of its own on Thursday at West Ridge Church in Dallas. 

Kylie Lindsey, 17, and Isabella Chinchilla, 16, were killed last Saturday in a Carroll County crash. Their funerals took place within hours of each other at West Ridge Church in Dallas.

The overcast skies seemed to match the solemn mood.

"It’s a very hard day to have two families from our community hurting today," West Ridge Head Pastor Paul Richardson said. 

 "It’s a sad day. Sad day for so many students," said Todd Hamilton, Youth Pastor, who preached the eulogy for Isabella in the morning.

Funerals for teens killed in crash slated for same church, same day Two teens dead after crash with Georgia State Patrol vehicle


PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. -- They were best friends, and now, their families will hold funeral services for Kylie Lindsay, 17 and Isabella Chinchilla, 16 at the same church on the same day.

The teens, who attended South Paulding High School, were killed on Saturday night when the vehicle they were in was hit by a Georgia State Patrol car.

Sheriff's vehicles sport 'In God We Trust'

PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. -- Vehicles belonging to the Paulding County Sheriff's Office will be sporting a new message.

Patrol cars will display “In God We Trust.”

Sheriff Gary Gulledge says he'd been thinking of making this move for a while, and that his deputies had an overwhelmingly positive response to the idea.

Gulledge said every patrol car with the sticker was either paid for by the deputy driving that car, or by the sheriff himself. No public tax dollars were used, according to Gulledge.
